Glycol Still Internals Replacement – Britannia North Sea
Process Verification and Replacement Internals for Long-Term Offshore Service
The Challenge
Originally commissioned in 1995, the Glycol Still at the Britannia North Sea topside facility had provided almost three decades of service before a replacement unit was scheduled for 2024.
Rosenberg was engaged to verify the process design and provide a complete set of new column internals, ensuring the replacement unit would meet the required process performance and demanding offshore operating conditions.
Our Solution
Rosenberg carried out detailed hydraulic and process assessments, confirming the adequacy of the proposed column design before proceeding with the manufacture and supply of the replacement internals.
The complete package included our P-Pak™ random packing, together with RoseFlow™ internals, comprising a random packing support grid, hold-down grid and liquid distributor.
All internals were manufactured in 316L stainless steel, providing the durability and corrosion resistance required for long-term offshore service.
The Result
Rosenberg delivered a fully engineered internals package for the replacement Glycol Still, combining process design verification, hydraulic assessment and specialist mass transfer equipment within a single scope.
The project provided Britannia with a modern replacement solution engineered to support reliable glycol regeneration and continued offshore operation.
