Solvent losses and dewpoint failures are usually separation problems
Gas plants run on circulating solvents — amine for acid gas, glycol for water. Both are expensive, and both leave the plant the same way: as fine droplets carried overhead with the treated gas. Operators notice it as climbing make-up cost long before they trace it to mist elimination.
Downstream, cryogenic processing is unforgiving. Water, mercury and CO₂ all have to be at trace levels before the gas reaches a cold box, and each of those beds depends on even flow distribution to use its full capacity.
