Crude Distillation Unit (CDU)

Atmospheric crude towers, where a re-tray recovers throughput without touching the pressure envelope.

The duty

The first separation on a refinery — a large-diameter tower with multiple side draws, where capacity limits appear section by section.

The crude tower is the first separation on a refinery and sets the feed for everything downstream. It is a large-diameter column with multiple side draws and pumparounds, which makes its hydraulics considerably more complex than a simple two-product tower.

Capacity limits usually appear at a specific section rather than across the whole column — a flooded pumparound, or a wash zone that cannot handle the vapour load. Identifying which section is actually limiting is most of the engineering work.

Half Open Pipe Inlet Device

Half Open Pipe Feed Devices introduce process feed through an open section of pipe, spreading the incoming flow over a larger area and reducing the momentum associated with direct nozzle

Floating Valve Tray Technology

Floating Valve Trays use movable valves that rise and fall in response to vapour flow, automatically adjusting the available flow area as process loads change. This self-regulating action provides good

Fixed Valve Tray Technology

Fixed Valve Trays use permanently formed openings in the tray deck to direct vapour through the flowing liquid, combining effective mass transfer with a simple, robust construction. With no moving
