High-Capacity Vapour-Liquid Contact with No Moving Parts
Fixed Valve Trays combine the simplicity of a sieve tray with the improved vapour distribution and hydraulic characteristics of valve tray technology. The valves are formed directly from the tray deck, creating permanent openings that direct vapour into the liquid flowing across the tray.
As vapour passes through the fixed valves, the shaped openings promote effective vapour-liquid contact while helping to direct the flow across the tray deck. This interaction improves mixing between the phases and supports efficient mass transfer in distillation, absorption, and stripping applications.
Unlike conventional movable valve trays, Fixed Valve Trays contain no moving valve components. This eliminates the possibility of valve wear, sticking, or loss while providing a robust tray deck that is particularly well suited to demanding or fouling process services.
The relatively open valve geometry can also provide increased vapour handling capacity and reduced tendency to foul compared with more restrictive tray designs. Fixed Valve Trays are therefore a practical choice for applications requiring good hydraulic capacity, mechanical simplicity, and dependable long-term operation.
Each tray can be designed to suit the column diameter, vapour and liquid loads, tray spacing, downcomer configuration, and required operating range. Fixed Valve Trays can be supplied for new columns, tower revamps, capacity upgrades, or as replacement trays for existing equipment.
