C-PAK Random Packing

C-Pak™ Random Packing utilises a Cascade Mini Ring-style geometry with a compact 1:3 aspect ratio to maximise surface utilisation and improve vapour flow. The result is higher hydraulic capacity, lower pressure drop, and efficient mass transfer in distillation, absorption, and stripping applications.

Optimised Geometry for Increased Capacity and Efficient Mass Transfer

C-Pak™ Random Packing features a unique aspect ratio of approximately 1:3, where the packing height is one-third of its diameter. This compact geometry encourages the elements to preferentially orient themselves vertically within the packed bed, exposing a greater proportion of both the internal and external surfaces to the gas and liquid phases.

The increased surface exposure improves mass transfer efficiency while the open packing structure provides less restriction to vapour flow, resulting in lower pressure drop and increased hydraulic capacity compared with conventional random packing designs.

The combination of efficient surface utilisation, excellent liquid distribution, and high void fraction makes C-Pak™ particularly well suited to distillation, absorption, stripping, and scrubbing applications where increased throughput, reduced energy consumption, and improved column performance are required.

How Distillation Floating-Valve Trays Work

Distillation valve trays use movable valves that open with rising vapor, allowing it to bubble through liquid and create efficient mixing for mass transfer. Their self-adjusting design maintains stable performance by adapting to changing vapor flow conditions.
