The inclined flat plate allows liquid phases to disengage diagonally towards the liquid interface. Flow should be in the laminar region for better separation performance. The inclination and the spacing between the plates are fixed depending on the application, the nature of contaminants present in the mixture, and degree of separation needed. Rosenberg offers 4 spacings of 6mm, 13mm,20mm and 27mm and a 45° or 60° plate angle for improved fouling performance.
