Chemical recycling asks separation equipment to do something unusually hard: take a feed derived from mixed, contaminated waste and produce something clean enough for a steam cracker. Pyrolysis oil arrives carrying chlorides, nitrogen, silicon, metals and heavy waxy fractions — and every one of those has to come out.
Fouling is relentless. Waxes solidify, olefins polymerise, and char carries over from the reactor, so internals need open geometry and real fouling margin rather than maximum efficiency. Chlorides make materials selection a first-order decision, not a detail.
